Harvest Festival Nov 5 at Tucson Village Farm
Nov 5 2011 - 10:00am - 2:00pm
The Tucson Village Farm will be hosting a FREE family-friendly event called the Taste of the Harvest Festival on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This beautifully designed urban farm for kids is located on the grounds of the University of Arizona's Pima County Cooperative Extension at 4210 N. Campbell Avenue.
"The Harvest Festival will be a cross between your local Farmer's Market and Costco," said Elizabeth Sparks, UA Assistant Agent for 4-H Youth Development for the Tucson Village Farm. "There will be farm samples galore! We want to use this as an opportunity to share what we do and what we grow and give people some help on ways to eat healthy."
There will also be live cooking demonstrations, produce for purchase, gardening tips, kids' activities, a petting zoo and a raffle.
The Tucson Village Farm is a program of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension and partners with the Arizona Nutrition Network to accomplish its goals of reconnecting young people to a healthy food system, teaching them how to grow and prepare fresh food and empowering them to make healthy life choices.
