Northen Arizona Centennial Celebration

Jul 24 2014 - 9:30am - 5:00pm

The V-V Experimental Ranch and Arizona Cooperative Extension are hosting the third in a series of four Centennial events - the Northern Arizona Centennial Celebration, Thursday, July 24 at the V-V Experimental Ranch at Mahan Park.

The celebration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the morning program will include recognition of influential contributors to Arizona agriculture, families, and communities over the last 100 years. The morning program will also highlight significant research and management of Arizona's forests for the last 100 years and beyond, describe the history and impact of the Arizona Tree Ring Lab, and discuss Arizona climate trends in the past and into the future.  Following a BBQ lunch, there will be a two-hour afternoon session with hands on learning and demonstrations on various topics from home canning and remote sensing to Native American food production and forest health.  For more information, check out the draft agenda and the map to the Mahan Park site.  You can also check out Centennial Events website for more information on this event and our final celebration on October 4 at the Phoenix Zoo.

For those on campus and in the Tucson area who would like to participate in this one-day event, Cooperative Extension will provide bus transportation from Tucson to the V-V with a UA Campus departure time of 5:30am sharp and an expected return time to campus between 7:30-8:30pm that same evening.  Bus transportation will depend on the number of responses we get by the date below.

To secure a seat on the bus and register for the event, contact Steven Crofts by Wednesday, June 25.  The maximum capacity for this event is 300, so immediate registration is suggested and is on a first come, first served basis. There is no charge for the event nor the bus transportation.
