2008 Arizona Dairy Day

Arizona Dairy Day was held on April 3, 2008 at the Caballero Dairy Farms in Eloy , Arizona . In 2006, the trade show was moved from the Arizona State Fairgrounds back to the dairy. This year, the Caballero family kindly hosted the event. Eighty-one vendors set up displays and 39 pieces of equipment were on hand to showcase their products for Arizona dairy producers and their families. Farm Credit Services Southwest graciously provided lunch to approximately 1,125 people. There were lots of good food to eat, loads of milk to drink and heaps of ice cream, plus music for everyone to enjoy.

First and foremost a big “THANK YOU!” goes to the Caballero Dairy Farm for hosting this year's event. In addition, special thanks to Empire Cat for generously providing the generator and water truck; thank you Arizona Production Machinery for supplying the loadall and to our friends at UDA for their continued support of Dairy Day.

On Friday, April 4, the Fourth Annual Arizona Dairy Day Golf Tournament was played at the Club West Golf Course in Phoenix . We want to thank the sponsors who make this tournament possible every year. Wells Fargo Bank as our 1 st Place Sponsor, with Korral Kool as the 2 nd Place Sponsor, and our very own Arizona Cooperative Extension was the 3 rd Place Sponsor. Once again Farm Credit Services Southwest fed all those who participated – we want to express our sincere thanks. Over 100 golfers were on hand to participate in the contest which gives Dairy Day vendors and dairy producers an opportunity to network in a casual, fun setting. The winning team was Chris Schaffer, Tom Thompson, Gene Shelton and Keith Cayton. The team of Luis Yepiz, Ismael Jimerez, Dan Burch, and Dave Osinga placed second, and coming in third were Mark Howard, Rick Anglin, and Bill Sawyer.

With another successful year celebrating the dairy farmers of Arizona behind us, the University of Arizona Dairy Extension wants to offer our sincere thanks to those who make this event possible. From those who serve on the planning committee, to those who set up, who supply the ice cream, and to those who manage barbequing, and especially to all the sponsors - a hearty THANK YOU! And we look forward to seeing all of you next year.
