Julie has been employed at The University of Arizona since 1990. She joined the Office of Arid Lands Studies and the Economic Development Research Program in 1995 where she was the Assistant to both Directors. After 17 years of service with the Office of Arid Lands Studies, she left to seek new challenges at the Department of Animal Sciences, Arizona Dairy Extension. In her capacity as Program Coordinator to Dr. Todd Bilby, Extension Specialist, she performs a variety of tasks.

Raised in Minnesota, Julie moved to Tucson in 1986. Married since 1997 to Craig, they have blended a family of six children - Nicholas, John, Beryl, Katie, Yuri, and Zoe. They have a wonderful daughter-in-law, Polly, and their pride and joy are their grandchildren Devyn, Jocelyn, Damian, and Andrew.

Julie enjoys volunteering with children. Julie and her family have hosted foreign exchange students from Norway, Sweden, and Germany. She is Past President of the Homer Davis Elementary School PTA (1990-1994), where the Flowing Wells School District named her Volunteer of the Year. The Office of Arid Lands Studies presented her with the Employee of the Year Award and she has been the office coordinator for the United Way and other community service activities. Julie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, baking, new challenges, and traveling.
