Chapter 7: Human Alterations to Riparian Areas
Urban, Recreation and Industry Alterations
- In addition to agricultural pressures on riparian areas, the increase of human population has led to urban, recreation, and industrial pressures on riparian areas.
- Riparian areas are very commonly used for residential areas and recreation.
- Population increases have led to increases for transportation routes and industrial uses. Industry can use and degrade significant amounts of water withdrawn from ground or surface water.
