WEB CASTING PRESENTATIONS AVAILABLE:

The Web casting presentations for the Assistant/Associate Agent, Community Resource Development positions in Yavapai and Cochise counties, titled Building the Capacity of Extension Community Resource Development Programs A Five Year Plan for Success, will be tomorrow, Wednesday, May 30 and can be viewed at http://cals.arizona.edu/extension/webcasts.html. ANNUAL DESK AUDITS & AAP-7 FORMS:

I want to thank all the Extension county offices who have turned in their Annual Desk Audits and AAP-7 forms for 2006.  To meet Federal civil rights compliance, these items must be submitted and on file each year.  If you are among the very few that still need to submit, well be in contact.

WESTERN SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE, RESEARCH & EDUCATION PROGRAM:

Pre-applications for the Western Sustainable Agriculture, Research & Education program are due June 14 . Applications can be found at http://wsare.usu.edu. UPCOMING EVENTS & DEADLINES:

- Join Dr. Nadia Sabeh (May 2007 graduate) of the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (CEAC) as she presents a free workshop tomorrow, May 30 on strategies for conserving water and improving evaporative cooling for greenhouses and outdoor systems.  Discussion will include fan and ventilation methods, wet walls and cooling pads, fog and mist systems, and operation and control methods for conserving water.  This workshop is ideal for commercial greenhouse and nursery growers, residential horticulturalists, educators with greenhouses, and users of greenhouse/outdoor evaporative cooling systems.  The workshop will take place at   CEAC, 1951 E. - Arizona Project Wet offers training in water education across the state.  Workshops are FREE.  Tucson workshops are scheduled for June 18 & 19 .  Phoenix workshops are scheduled for June 5 & 6 and June 13 & 14 .  For specific information on each workshop and to register, go to www.ag.arizona.edu/azwater/wet.

- Join other professionals for a critical dialog on emerging contaminants and policy challenges for water quality in Arizona!  There is still time to register for the June 5 conference sponsored by the University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center, the Arizona Water Institute and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.  See the agenda and register at http://ag.arizona.edu/AZWATER/conf2007/index.html. Grant Woods and Jack Pfister will be keynote speakers.  In addition to a full day of informative panels and presentations, Steve Owens will give a State of the ADEQ Address and current Legislative Chairs will be acknowledged.  The conference is being held at the Hyatt Regency Civic Center in Phoenix and starts with a continental breakfast at 7:30am and ends with a reception at 5:30pm.  Secrets locked in the ADEQ time capsules through the years will be brought to light at the reception.

- The joint meeting of the Association for Communications Excellence and the National Extension Technology Conference (which offers something for everybody this year with more than 140 sessions) takes place June 16-19 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Topics range from Podcasting for Virtual Instruction to Finding New Ways to Attract Students and Promoting 4-H Youth Development Using Results from the Tufts University Study.  Sessions cover academic programs, research, application development and support, distance education and instructional design, marketing, publishing, diversity, leadership and management, photography, and a lot more.
