Professional Achievement 2006 - Jerry A. Collins
Jerry earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and Family Relations at the University of Arizona in 1974. Unlike many other students, Jerry combined her university time with her husband and two daughters. In the late 1970's, Jerry's husband John was diagnosed with cancer and Jerry began working with John's engineering firm. During the years of ups and downs with John's illness, Jerry's strength and belief in people helped not only the business but also her family and friends.
Following John's death in 1979, Jerry continued to work with the firm. Jerry became one of the founding principals of her own engineering firm in 1984. As President of Collins/Pina Consulting Engineers, Inc., Jerry was responsible for administrative functions, personnel and financial matters, marketing, and the liaison to government agencies. Her staff grew to almost 100 employees with offices in Tucson, Phoenix and Nogales. In 1999, Collins/Pina was sold to Tetra Tech and as Deputy Regional Director Jerry's duties included office management, office facilities and discipline leader coordination. Jerry opened Aspen Consulting Engineers, Phoenix in 2002, and is Vice President and Phoenix Operations Manager for Aspen Environmental Group. She is responsible for office management, marketing and business development in Arizona. Jerry is recognized as an accomplished professional woman in the engineering arena and she is a community leader who is known for building enduring relationships. She truly is the best of the best. Recently Jerry was recognized with "The Favorite Daughter of Willcox" Award. Jerry has supported many charities and is involved in numerous church committees. Jerry enjoys time with her daughters and on weekends, you will find Jerry at her grandchildren's sporting events. For her accomplishments and encouragement to her family and friends to pursue their dreams and to reach for the stars even during difficult times, the Council is proud to recognize Jerry Collins.
