Lucas Guthrie joined the School of Family and Consumer Sciences in 1995 as an entry level secretary in the Retailing and Consumer Studies (RCSC) Division. After only one half year he was promoted to Office Specialist. In 2001 Lucas took a half-time position as Support Systems Analyst so he could pursue his undergraduate degree. Due to his hard work and determination he earned his B.A. with a dual major in Media Arts and History. From the very beginning, Lucas impressed the entire faculty and staff in the RCSC Division. He took the initiative to train himself in computer technology and has demonstrated remarkable ability in this area. Thanks to his willingness to learn management and information system skills, the faculty and staff of the school have developed many new avenues of multimedia presentation and instruction. As the web master he creates and updates web pages for the School of Family and Consumer Sciences. Lucas has demonstrated considerable creativity in his work.
The School is the beneficiary of the outstanding instructional, research and outreach services that he provides to the faculty. He also customarily provides exceptional service to other staff in the School. He accomplishes these multiple tasks with characteristic accuracy and punctuality, continually demonstrating his effectiveness, efficiency and organizational skills. Lucas possesses outstanding talent, professionalism and oral communication skills. He has earned tremendous respect from all the faculty and staff of the School. He is cordial, patient and people oriented. Lucas is playing a very important role in the development of the Council web site. He is always so ready to lend a helping hand in the activities and programs of the Council.
