Family and Consumer Sciences Education

Family and Consumer Sciences Education (FACSED) is a teaching-oriented major for students who enjoy classroom instruction. The FACSED major provides students with background in consumer economics, family and human development, health and nutrition, and teaching methods. FACS majors are prepared to teach in middle school and high school settings. This major leads to Arizona teacher certification in secondary education (grades 7-12) and career and technical education.

Majors study the functions of teachers and teaching, curriculum development, and educational techniques. The student teaching portion of the major is administered with the College of Education. Students apply for admission after completing 56 units of lower-division course work.
