Already have a degree in a FACS-related area? Consider our Post-baccalaureate program to gain FACS teacher certification. You take the courses you need to get certified along with our undergraduates. POST-BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM FOR ARIZONA STANDARD FACS CERTIFICATION
- A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Thirty semester hours in Family and Consumer Sciences including at least one course in each of the following areas:
Human Development
Family/Human Relations
Clothing/Textiles/Fashion Merchandising
Nutrition/Food Preparation
Facility Management/ Housing/Interior Design
Economics/Family Resources/Personal Finance/Family Financial Management
Food Production/Culinary Arts
Child Development
- Two hundred forty clock hours of verified occupational employment in Family and Consumer Sciences or an internship of 2 units or more.
- Eighteen additional hours of professional knowledge, including any of the following:
Principles/philosophy of vocational education
Operation of a vocational student organization
Methods of teaching occupational family and consumer science
Curriculum design/development (includes assessment and evaluation)
Instructional technology
Educational philosophy
Instructional design/methodology
Assessment/Evaluation or Classroom Management
-Passing score on the secondary professional knowledge portion of Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment (AEPA).
-Course (or courses) on US and Arizona constitution or passing score on both tests (given independently for a fee).
