Welcome to Family Studies and Human Development!

Today, more than ever, there is a need for knowledgeable and well-trained professionals to meet the needs of individuals and families as they face the life challenges of our complex and rapidly- changing society. In addition, the generation of new knowledge about family processes, interpersonal relationships, and lifespan human development is essential to inform these efforts. If you are interested in an academic program that will prepare you to make a difference in the lives of children, youth, adults, couples, and families, Family Studies and Human Development may be right for you.

Our undergraduate program offers a high quality educational experience and service learning opportunities that prepare students to enter one of two fields: Family Studies and Human Development (FSHD) or Family and Consumer Sciences Education (FACS). Our graduate program offers doctoral level training for students interested in pursing research, teaching, or other professional careers in academic, public, and private-sector settings. We also offer a masters degree with an emphasis in Family and Consumer Sciences for students interested in careers in classroom teaching or community-based education programs. To learn more about our undergraduate and graduate programs, please follow the related links.
