Kittitas student video wins national contest

A state of shock swept over members of Cheryl Uceny's real world life skills class at Kittitas Secondary School Monday as they learned they won first place in the nationwide Give Yourself Some Credit video contest.

"I thought we got punked," said class member Kaitlynn Kilgore, who played a nurse in the class' four-minute-long video entitled "Code Red." "I was like, ‘Don't even joke about that. Are you serious?'"

The contest, organized by the Take Charge America Institute for Consumer Financial Education Research, asked students to first submit a proposal and script for a short video that would educate their peers about some aspect of personal credit management. Judges picked their favorite five proposals and gave the creators $500 and a small video camera and asked them to create their videos.
