RCSC Professional Program Application for Admission Guidelines
Access to RCSC 300 and 400-level courses requires admission to the RCSC Professional Program. Admission to the RCSC Professional Program is both competitive and selective. Completion of all pre-professional program requirements will only establish eligibility to apply and does not assure a student of admission to the RCSC Professional Program.
Application for admission to the RCSC Professional Program is conducted by the Division of Retailing and Consumer Sciences in accordance with the policies outlined below. Review of applications for admission occurs only three times per year including one Fall and two Spring admission periods. The number of applicants admitted is based on the admission criteria outlined below and is limited by the space and faculty resources of the RCSC Division. Approximately 70 to 100 applicants will be admitted each academic year.

- . Completion of RCSC Prerequisite Courses relative to total earned units
. Leadership, work experience, extra and co-curricular activities, career objectives
- . Professional quality letter of application and resume
. Submission of complete application packet by application deadline. Students must submit all requested information by the deadline.
- No late or incomplete applications will be accepted.

- Minimum Application Requirements:

- Students applying to the professional phase of the program must complete a number of minimum requirements prior to filing an application for admission. These requirements include the following:
- . Completion of 42 units of course work acceptable to The University of Arizona.
• Attainment of a minimum 2.6 GPA over 42 units with at least 12 units earned at The University of Arizona. (If less than 12 U of A units have been completed, the GPA from all transfer institutions will be used.)
- . Completed* or have in progress the following RCSC Prerequisite Courses
ENGL 101 or equivalent
- ENGL 102 or equivalent
ECON 200 or equivalent
- ACCT 200 or equivalent
MATH 115A or equivalent
- PSYC 230 or SOC 274 or equivalent
FCS 120, ABE 120, MIS 111 and BAD 112L, or equivalent
- RCSC 114, 114A, or 214
- *Effective for admission beginning in Fall 2007, the grade earned on all RCSC Prerequisite Courses must be a grade of "C" or higher.
. Attendance at a RCSC New/Transfer Student Orientation session before applying to the RCSC Professional Program.
.Transfer Students : Please review the preferred sequence of foundation courses in The University of Arizona Community College Transfer Guide . Transfer students may apply for admission to the RCSC Professional Program during their last semester at their community college even if they have not been officially accepted for admission to The University of Arizona. The University of Arizona application must, however, be in progress. All transfer students may contact Felicia Frontain at frontain@ag.arizona.edu or (520) 621-7144 during the application process with any specific transfer questions.

Students applying for Fall admission must apply by no later than the preceding Spring semester (applications are due by the either the second Friday in February OR the second Friday in May) and must have all RCSC Prerequisite Courses** completed at the end of that Spring semester or Summer Session I (finishing requirements during Summer Session II is not allowed).

Students applying for Spring admission must apply by no later than the preceding Fall semester (applications are due by the second Friday in September) and must have all RCSC Prerequisite Courses** completed at the end of the Fall semester in which they are applying (finishing requirements during Winter Session is not allowed).
- **No waivers will be granted for completion of RCSC Prerequisite Courses.

- Filing an Application for Admission to the RCSC Professional Program
- Applications for admission to the RCSC Professional Program are due the second Friday in February or the second Friday in May for the Fall semester and the second Friday in September for the Spring semester. Applications are due by no later than 4:00 p.m. in FCS 123. The application packet to the RCSC Professional Program should include the information contained in the following list.
- 1. RCSC Professional Program Application Form. This form must be filled out completely. All information provided is subject to verification.
2. Current SAPR (Student Academic Progress Report) and unofficial U of A transcript.
- 3. Unofficial transcripts, transfer evaluations and/or grade reports for all courses completed at other institutions and/or for which you are currently enrolled. If transfer courses for the pre-professional program English and Math requirements are taken outside the State of Arizona and have not yet been officially accepted by the U of A, written verification that the course meets the University English or Math requirements must be submitted by the respective departments.
4. Letter of application stating why you are applying to the RCSC Professional Program. (Please see www.career.arizona.edu and go to "Students" for information on sample cover letters).
