4-H is the world's largest & most dynamic
informal educational program.
No matter where you live. . .
in the city, in the suburbs, or on a farm. . .
4-H has something for you!

Maricopa County 4-H is operated under the direction of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension. The basic Arizona 4-H program is designed for youth ages 5-18. Youth between the ages of 5 to 8 are in our non-competitive program called Clover Kids. 4-H offers all of these youth an opportunity to grow and be challenged. There are almost as many project opportunities as there are youth to explore them. 4-H also offers adults the chance to get involved with the youth of their community and truly make a difference in their lives. Check out some of the many opportunities by clicking on your area of interest to the left.

Our focus is on teaching life skills. To emphasize this, most projects have an advancement program for the member to progress through the levels of expertise as they gain these skills.

The Mission of Arizona 4-H Youth Development is to provide educational opportunities for youth to become capable and contributing members of a global society. In support of this mission we will:

  • Provide formal and non-formal community focused experiential learning.
  • Develop skills that benefit youth throughout life, project work, personal development opportunities, leadership and citizenship.
  • foster leadership and voluteerism in youth and adults.

In Maricopa County we collect an annual fee of $10 per member, unless the family/child is unable to pay. They then need to fill out and submit the waiver form with their enrollment form. Enrolled 4-H leaders have access to pertinent 4-H publications at minimal cost. We encourage the clubs or members to enroll in the annual 4-H accident insurance available from American Income. Leaders may also enroll for the same cost.

We also provide 4-H members opportunities in some exciting formats beyond the traditional club structure, such as:
- School enrichment curriculum
- After school programming
- Short term projects & Special interest activities
- Youth leadership retreats
- Summer youth camps
