  • Anyone with 6 - 10 friends, co-workers or family
  • men, women, any age, children, seniors, YOU!
  • Anyone who wants to improve their overall fitness and feel better
  • Your company can sponsor Walk Across Arizona as a worksite wellness program with your employees and their families .

EFNEP Staff and Locations What is "Walk Across Arizona"

  • Fun way to get motivated to get fit
  • It is NOT a walk-a-thon or fund-raiser, but a way to get motivated to start moving and keep moving
  • Start a healthy habit of walking everyday
  • 8 week, statewide walking challenge
  • Part of statewide Healthy Lifestyle Education through the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension
  • Each walker gets a "Walk Across Arizona" t-shirt and eligible for prize drawing

Extension Connection2009 Walk Across Arizona Summary

  • 65 teams from worksites, churches, schools and neighborhoods participated in an 8 week program
  • 624 people in the 2009 Maricopa County teams walked more than 96,690 miles or an average of 155 miles per person.
  • Top team of 10 walked 4000 -6100 miles miles
  • Walkers ranged from 8 to 89 years old.

Extension Connection2008 Walk Across Arizona Summary

  • 143 teams from worksites, churches, schools and neighborhoods completed
  • 1248 people in the 2008 Maricopa County teams walked more than 333,961 miles or an average of 268 miles per person.
  • Top team of 10 walked 7300 -5900 miles miles
  • Top individuals each walked 1200-1500 miles during the 16 weeks

  • 130 teams from worksites, churches, schools and neighborhoods completed
  • 200 people walked more than 180,000
  • Top team of 10 walked 3840 miles
  • Top individuals walked 1200-1500 miles during the 16 weeks
