- The Town of Gilbert
- Wildlife Habitat
In 1986 the Town began constructing ponds, using reclaimed wastewater,
to recharge its groundwater supply. As an unexpected community
benefit, wildlife started using the open water habitat for resting
and foraging, which began to attract many bird watchers. Now a
thriving wildlife habitat in the middle of Gilbert, the complex
provides habitat to resident and migrating birds, as well as bats,
and includes a butterfly-hummingbird interpretive garden. A second
facility is under construction. For information or to arrange
group tours and presentations call (602) 696-1195 or (480) 503-6744
