Curator: Dr. A. Elizabeth (Betsy) Arnold

Betsy studies the diversity, ecology, and systematics of microfungi, especially fungal endophytes of tropical trees.She completed her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with Dr. Lucinda McDade at the University of Arizona in 2002. Following a two-year NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship in mycology at Duke University, she joined the faculty in the Division of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, Department of Plant Sciences, at the UA in January, 2005.

Curator Emeritus: Dr. Robert L. Gilbertson

Gil has a long and distinguished history as a mycologist, teacher, and forest pathologist. Well
known for his work on wood-decay fungi, Gil has served the field of mycology for over 50 years.

Curatorial Assistant: Ms. Janneth (Fabiola) Santos

Janneth (Fabiola) Santos R., Curatorial Assistant: Fabiola joined the Mycological Herbarium in 2006 after completing her undergraduate work at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and serving as a research assistant in fungal ecology at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama. Her duties include development of the Herbarium's special collections, including our teaching collection, as well as providing the interface between molecular biology and our specimen collection.

Undergraduate Assistant: Ms. Melissa Kohmetscher

Melissa is from Yuma, Arizona, and joined the Herbarium in January, 2005 as a work-study student. Her efforts have focused on generating the reprint database and expanding our specimen database via the inclusion of locality data. Melissa has been instrumental in accessioning several thousand new specimens, organizing our accession records, and updating our holdings. She will graduate in the spring of 2008.

Undergraduate Assistant: Ms. Vanessa Chicharello (alumnus)

Vanessa is from Gallup, New Mexico, and joined the Herbarium in January, 2005 as a work-study student. Her efforts focused on generating the reprint database, cataloguing our reference holdings, and exanding our specimen database via new accessions.

Vanessa graduated in 2005 but returned to help us database our slide collections in fall, 2006.
