Knight,Torres honored for contributions to agricultural education

Robert Torres and James Knight, both faculty in the Department of Agricultural Education in the University of Arizona’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, were honored last summer for their contributions to agricultural education in Arizona.

Torres and Knight were recognized with these awards at the annual conference of the Association for Career and Technical Education of Arizona, which was held in conjunction with the Arizona Agriculture Teachers Association honors on July 15, 2013 in the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort Kiva Ballroom in Tucson, Ariz.

Torres, professor and head of the Department of Agricultural Education, was honored as Career and Technical Education Postsecondary Educator of the Year. He received this recognition from the Association for Career and Technical Education of Arizona for outstanding leadership and teaching abilities.

Knight, professor of agricultural education, was awarded Honorary Life Membership in the Arizona Agriculture Teachers Association for his significant contributions to the improvement of agricultural education. Knight is well known on campus for teaching Heritage and Traditions of the University of Arizona.
