Race Track Industry Program Well Represented on Thoroughbred Times “40 Under 40” List

Five Race Track Industry Program (RTIP) alumni made the inaugural Thoroughbred Times “40 Under 40” list. The former students honored by the magazine as “racing’s future leaders” hold a variety of positions at tracks across the country, but all of them got their start at the University of Arizona.

The list was picked by Thoroughbred Times editors from a pool of over 100 nominees.  It marks the first time an industry publication has spotlighted the younger generation of racing leaders and advocates, who are challenging the old stereotypes and changing perceptions of the “sport of kings.” The RTIP alumni on the list are below (year of graduation):

  • Bill Knauf (1997), Assistant Vice President of Marketing Operations and Assistant General Manager, Monmouth Park
  • Aaron Vercruysse (2002), Vice President of Racing and Wagering, Santa Anita Park; Host and Analyst, HRTV
  • Raj Mutti (2004), General Manager, Hastings Park
  • Dan Silver (2007), Communications Director, New York Racing Association
  • Erich Zimny (2008), Director of Racing Operation, Charles Town Races and Slots

The “40 Under 40” list was published in the June 26 issue of Thoroughbred Times and can be found at thoroughbredtimes.com. The five alumni honored are a fraction of the successful graduates of the Race Track Industry Program. For more information please visit ua-rtip.org
