Better Process Control School
In English January 8-11, 2002

Participants in the Spanish school must read and understand Spanish

The University of Arizona offers the Better Process Control School once a year in Spanish and once in English. The intended audience includes supervisors of thermal food processing operations, acidified food processing operations, and food container closure operations.


Purpose of School:

Each processor of low-acid or acidified foods is required to operate with a trained supervisor on hand at all time during processing.

Certification:

The University of Arizona Better Process Control School is approved by the FDA and follows the prescribed course of instruction for issuing a certificate. The four day course will include: microbiology, sanitation, records, operations of retorts, processing systems, aseptic processing and packaging systems and container closure inspection.

Examinations standardized by the Food Processors Institute with the approval of the FDA will be given for each section. A score of 70% on each examination is a passing score.

Instructors:

Various faculty experts from around the country will conduct the BPCS.
