PIPELINE PEER-TO-PEER Virus Diseases Management Project

STEPS in the Information Pipeline
1. Take GPS reading

2. Take 2-3 digital photos

a. close-up of all symptom types
b. photo of several plants in field
c. overall field photo if you think it will be helpful

3. Collect sample and label the bag.
Suggestions for providing a quality sample: Put LEAVES and stems with characteristic symptoms in a zip lock bag, mark by name, cultivar, date, and location. For root samples, place UNWASHED ROOTS in a separate bag with same information; match to leaves if more than one sample; be sure to get small roots, even if it means taking a few small clods; it is OK to cut away larger roots if necessary to fit into bag. Do NOT add water or wet paper towels; let us KNOW they are coming; send overnight mail to:

4. Log on and Enter password/Enter data for collection/Upload photo to the
Peer to Peer website

5. Log on in 24 hr to check for diagnostics data report:

Follow link to Plant Pathology Website (see Virus Diseases) to obtain detailed information about the specific virus and its vector, mode of transmission, etc. Check map as points begin to be set by you and others in the peer-to-peer network.
