Flowers: not significant
Fruit: decious; winged seeds on females, 1in long
Stems/Trunks: gray with linear furrowing trunk; obvious graft union on young specimens
Range/Origin: southwest US; popular cultivar of F. velutina

Fraxinus velutina 'Fan-tex' CULTURAL REQUIREMENTS:
- best ash for residential landscapes
- holds dense canopy
- Exposure: full sun
- Water: regular best; heat and drought tolerant; keeps lush look in adverse conditions
- Soil: uniform, good drainage
- Propagation: vegetatively only; a grafted cultivar
- Maintenance: low, raking of fall leaf drop

a cultivated variety of Fraxinus velutina, probably from a sport noted for the different leaf type, Fan-tex is always grafted onto F. velutina root stock
