2011 Home Garden Tour

The Master Gardener Home Garden Tour is a self-guided event. Most of the gardens you will see are at private residences and may not be handicapped accessible. You may BEGIN your tour at any stop. Signs are displayed as you near the gardens.
Gardens on this year's tour:
- Master Gardener Demonstration Gardens : Demonstration gardens are maintained as part of the Cooperative Extension Office. Stop here to get ideas for your own garden and see examples of a variety of gardens.
- The KNILL Garden : Nestled in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains is a classic example of Xeriscape landscaping. Discover swaths of cacti, trees, roses, wildflowers, vegetables and native plants.
- The HEIMBACH Garden : An excellent demonstration of gardening in a small area. A small, urban landscape utilizing containers for annual color plus herbs and vegetables.
- The HARTMANN Garden : A heavily shaded garden in transition to water harvesting with native plants attracting birds and butterflies, an herb spiral, vegetable garden succulents cactus and fruit trees plus a water catchment tank.
- The ELLIS Graden : An eclectic garden with low water as a theme with a wide variety of plants: cactus and succulents, desert shrubs, citrus, tropicals and many unique plants and over 250 container plants.
Tickets are available at Harlow and Rillito Nurseries and the Cooperative Extension office at 4210 N. Campbell, 626-5161. Maps and directions are on the tickets.
All the home gardens and the demonstration gardens located at 4210 N. Campbell Avenue will be open from 9:00 am to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2011. A map of the tour stops will be provided and participants may tour as many gardens as they wish, in any order they wish. Hosts and Master Gardeners will be on hand at all stops to answer questions.
