[Arid_gardener] Tree for narrow space

Hi, Kelly
I am not an expert but I have been doing some
research on trees for narrow spaces.
Two feet is very narrow and I haven't found trees that
could grow successfully in such a restricted space. You
might look at yew pine (Podocarpus), hopbush (shrub),
and nandina (shrub) as possibilities but even these will
encroach onto the walkway.
A vine might be a more realistic alternative. You would
need to examine how much sun the space gets in summer
and in winter to choose the best vine. You might be able
construct a pergola (trellis) over the area for the vines
to grow and provide the shade you would get from a
tree if you had more space.
