[Arid_gardener] scorpions

I read in the Garden Guy's book that diatomaceous earth "food grade" is suppose to help and "kill" scorpions.

I purchased some at Home Depot and the woman who helped me find it, had used it...said it really worked!!!! What is the difference between "food grade" and the kind that one would find in places like Home Depot?

Some of My concerns are, would it kill or hurt my little lizards, also the cats that jump the fence and might go home and lick their little paws and or harmful to my Grandchildren. I live in Tempe near McClintock and Guadalupe and over the past 15 years I have discovered them in the house. I would be interested if this treatment really works and if there are any safety issues besides wearing gloves and a mask when applying? We've use a black light to catch them at night this year and they are in a jar right now.

I would also like to know if there is anyone, University, etc. who is needing live scorpions for any type of medical studies and if or how we could send or bring these little warriors to them.

Sincerely,

Doreen Korman
