[Arid_gardener] still looking for answer - meadow instead of lawn?

Hi, Dick,
I am a little bit surprised, and taken aback, by your reply.
It seems very brusque, and not at all helpful.

I don't, actually, see any reason I *should* be content with a backyard
that is 3/4 dirt and 1/4 patchy bermuda grass, with trees and oleanders
on the east and west sides. I have tried to explain *why* I would prefer
not to put down gravel - it's hot, and the dogs don't like it - so I
would really like to get help on options and alternatives. That *is* why
I asked! Why do you think I don't have many options? I am somewhat
limited as to time, and expertise, but that doesn't mean I can't learn,
or compromise. Are there tough, lower water use, groundcovers, that
might be a better idea?

Do you know of any native grass or meadow types of yard in our area, or
have any idea of anyone else who I might ask? Is there an agricultural
extension in our area?

thanks again,

Jill

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat
you with experience.
