Desert soils are typically deficient in organic material and, for whatever
it is worth to you, my backyard jungle survives and produces quite well on
fully composted organic material produced and processed on site and 21-0-0,
Ammonium Sulfate as the only fertilizer I use. Every essential element
appears to exist on our native but alkaline soil except organic material and
nitrogen.
