[Arid_gardener] Lantana not blooming

Neil: I have seen and grown both the shrubby and trailing lantana under a
variety of
conditions, and they have always bloomed like crazy. They do sometimes bloom
in spurts,
though. I currently have some that get afternoon shade and they do OK
(except now they
have been frostbitten). I have seen trailiing lantana planted under trees
occasionally that
bloom well.

If yours are getting at least a few hours of sun they should bloom. If the
shade is too
deep, you may need to plant them in a sunnier place. If they have been
planted only
recently, they need a little time to recover from planting shock.
Overwatering also reduces
blooming. They will do well if you water them deeply once every 1-2 weeks,
and less during
the cold months.

    good luck,
