Although I'm not in a dry climate I'm hoping you can answer this question.

I recently had a tree stump and all associated surface roots ground out of my lawn. This resulted in an area of approximatly 600 sq. ft., with no grass at the present time, in which wood chips are mixed with the soil. The soil is clay.

Should I remove the soil/wood ship mixture, and replace with top soil before seeding the area with grass seed? So far, I'm inclined to leave the wood chips mixed in and just level out the area, add top soil as needed, then seed.

Thank you for any response.
