[Arid_gardener] Mesquite leaves

We recently planted a new chilean mesquite tree.  It has put out a lot of 
new growth but the new leaves look strange.  The new  leaves are smaller, 
rounder and don't spread out - is this normal for new growth or is something 
wrong with the tree? Thanks for any help.
