What causes a cancerous growth on the bottom of my tomatoes, yet under the skin, while they are entering the pink phase of ripening? The dark texture always appears on the bottom and will eventually destroy the entire fruit during the ripening process. Yet there is no sign of this cancer while the tomatoes are growing during the green stage. Thanks for your response.
