I have recently purchased a Tipu tree and placed it in the front yard to shade from south exposure. The tree thus far has thrived and is growing very rapidly. The nursery told me the roots are not invasive, and can be planted near the house as it will not damage the foundation once it matures.

however, after shopping at another nursery, I have heard contradicting evidence that the roots are invasive. I am now worried that I placed the tree too close to the house. The original nursery attendant told me that if placed 6ft. to 8ft. from the house will be sufficient.

I like the looks of the tree, and it is already providing the desired results in shade and appearance.

thanks,

Mike
