[Arid_gardener] Question from Home-Hort WWW page

I was going to plant either a Palo Verde or an Acia in a flower bed near my house and in front of an east facing window along with roses because I like the lacy and filtered sunlight into the house but then thought those trees might suffer from too much water that the roses would need.  Any comment on that thought.  I do not want trees whose shade is too dense.  But I do need a tree. Thanks for any feedback.
