Pat,
Yes, your agave will die after flowering AND it does not produce pups. You will need to replant. See: http://gecko.gc.maricopa.edu/glendalelibrary/GLIS%20Agave%20ocahui.htm for more inf on this plant.

  Subject: [Arid_gardener] flowering agave

An Agave ocahui in my garden has developed a flower stalk. Will the Agave ocahui die after the bloom or is it only the century plant that dies after it blooms?
If all agave die after blooming, will removal of the stalk prevent the death of the plant?
Thank you for your help. I've looked for these answers in my plant books and cannot find the answers.
  Pat L.
