Hi Jim,

Thanks for your question. The plant you describe sounds like Tree
Tobacco (Nicotiana glauca). It has large blue-green leaves that appear
soft and somewhat thick or rubbery. The large, fragrant, tubular yellow
flowers appear in clusters nearly year-round in our climate. Seeds are
spread by birds and easily sprout in landscapes, along roadsides or
waterways.

All parts of this plant are toxic, as are many others in the Solanaceae
family. http://www.plantoftheweek.org/week085.shtml

Greetings - I am trying to identify a plant that came up as a volunteer
in my yard. The plant sprouted as a seedling last spring. It is now 12
feet high and has a 12 foot spread at the base and very gangly. It
continued to grow and bloom all winter. The blooms are clusters of small
yellow tubular shaped flowers. I have never seen this plant anywhere
before and would greatly appreciate knowing what it is.
Thanks Jim
