Subject: [Arid_gardener] Saguaro Cactus - Infected
Do I need Arizona permission to remove a sick Saguaro Cactus. My
cactus appears to have a bad case of Erwinia Bacteria and is leaking
badly from a large hole - mid trunk. . If, I need permission to
remove same, whom do I contact? Thank You - Jacques Loraine, Sun City AZ.

ANSWER:
Jacques,
As long as the saguaro is on your private property, you do not need
permission to have it removed. Any landscaper can remove it, they'll
cut it up with a chain saw and haul it away. You can contact the
Desert Lanscaping School at Desert Botanical Garden (dls at dbg.org,
480-481-8161),they should be able to refer you to a local landscaper
that can remove it for you.
