from Eric jJohnson's excellent book,
"Pruning, Planting, and Care":

"Avoid shearing, as this reduces flowers and fruit.
Prune dead or twiggy interior growth in winter
months. Provide regular water during growing
and fruiting seasons. Reduce water applied in winter."

If growing in a pot, you may want to bump it
up to a larger pot if it becomes rootbound.
