[Arid_gardener] Coir

Stopped at Baker's Nursery today and asked about coir - they'd said they
carried it. They call it cocomulch and have 4 cubic foot compressed
bales as well as 1 1/2 cubic foot bags, $23.29 and $5.95 respectively.

Kind of funny in a way. They pulled a bale down so I could see the size.
While I'm choking over the price, they ask where my car is. I point,
they load the bale onto their golf cart and are halfway to my car before
I decide if I want it or not. So I guess I want it as I follow them to
open the tailgate.

Went back inside, decided to buy a few ranunculus and picked some out -
ten, just ten, white, orange, purple. That's assuming, of course, that
no one had put a bulb into the wrong box. (Hadn't heard of purple
ranunculus before - apparently the color is new and not as good a color
as it could be.)

I mentioned, the other day, succumbing to temptation and ordering some
seed packets. To my surprise, one order arrived yesterday (Wednesday)
from New York! .Lots. of snow peas to plant!

Guess I'll go looking for other things (ground cloth, row cover,
vermiculite, composts, concrete block, rebar) today or tomorrow. Wonder
how much weight I can safely put in the (new) car.
