Uvaldo,
Thanks for your question. Nut Grass (also known as Nutsedge) isn't a
grass at all but a relative of sedges and rushes. It grows from
underground tubers and spreads slowly. Getting rid of it isn't hard,
but it does require diligence. Generally two to four applications
during the growing season of products known as Image (Imidazolinone),
Manage (Halosulfuron) or Monument (Trifloxysulfuron) will control Nut
Grass. In some cases, follow-up applications are needed the next year.
The U of A conducted field trials in 2004 and 2005 which showed results
for the products listed above. Here is a link to a publication from
1994 which will give you details on this weed and how to use the
herbicide Image. http://cals.arizona.edu/turf/tips794.html
Please let me know if you have any questions.

My front yard has been taken up by nut grass. I have one landscaper
telling me I have to pull up all the lawn and a good ten to twelve
inches of top soil to be rid of it. I have another landscaper telling
me I have to have someone fumigate to kill everything in the lawn. What
would be the cheapest and most efficient way to be rid of nut grass.
Thanking you in advance
