[Arid_gardener] Chinese Tallow yellowing

I bought and planted a 15 gallon Chinese Tallow tree about two weeks ago and
was watering it every other day (it was still in the 90s at the time) until
my wife went into labor and we spent 3 days at the hospital. When we came
home, this tree's leaves were about 50% yellow with brown edges and falling
off the tree. We had about a third of an inch of rain while we were gone,
however, and I'm wondering if the yellowing is because the tree has gotten
too much wated since planted? If the tree was not getting enough, wouldn't
the leaves just turn brown?

At what point in the fall does this tree change colors, how cold does it
have to get before the leaves turn the maroon and plum color that I've read
about, and will that even happen here in the valley?

Thanks
Tom
