[Arid_gardener] dying eldarica pines

In spring 2006 I planted two small eldarica pines. They seemed to be okay 
for a few months, then one began turning brown from the inside out to the 
branch tips until it was completely dead. The other has kept most of the 
green, but the top foot of this 5-foot tree has died. Does this mean it is 
surely on its way out, or that it will grow in a stunted manner? About a 
quarter of the branches have a little brown, but there are also several 
tips with living fresh growth. I do not know whether to pull this guy from 
the ground or let it be. Any advice?
