I would like to plant a carob tree in my yard, but have heard the male plant has an offensive odor.  How can I know the gender of the tree??  Can a nursey selling tress tell me if it is a male or female?  Are there other things I should know before buying this tree?  I want it for shade in the middle of a grassy area in full sunlight.  Thanks so much.
