We had three 10-15 ft, Mexican fan palms removed.  They could not get the stump remover machine into the yard, so cut off the stumps just below ground level.  We are trying to dig them out so we can put Queen palms in their place.  We have dug down 15" plus and there is no end in sight.  Is it even feasible to try to remove the trunk and root ball from these Mex fan palm trees?  If not, how far away do the queen palms need to be planted?  We are space limited.
