[Arid_gardener] ash trees

I am wondering about the pros and cons of Arizona Ash vs Raywood Ash. I
was told that Raywood has a 20 foot spread, grows upright and will turn
a lovely purple color. But I've never seen one in Phoenix. I only see
the yellow ash trees. We definitely want an ash to be planted in our
small lawn area in our backyard, to help block the western sun. The
depth of the yard is only 35 feet and the tree would be planted toward
the back on the south end of the yard. Is one variety better than the
other in this situation? If the Raywood has a wishy-washy color
display, I think I might prefer the yellow Arizona ash. I live in
Peoria, AZ.
Thanks,
Patti
