Your seeds should have been in six-packs or 4 inch pots a month ago so that
a hardy root system will have been established and growing like gang busters
by the time you transplant the seedlings into warm soil in your garden.
Eggplants make an interesting grow in 5 gallon ornamental pots, by the way,
in full sun, of course. There is a wider variety to be found on line and
that intrigues me.
Yoy can buy a full assortment of vegetable plants in most of the local
nurseries who tend to put them on the shelf when it is time to plant in the
ground and you can purchase potted veggie seedlings on line from at least a
dozen wholesale nurseries that you can find with an ordinary search. I have
purchased on line for years and can't remember a single time that I was
disappointed by their condition upon arrival.
Our local nurseries should have our support, however. I reist buying on line
anything I can get off the shelf in my own community. If you are close
enough, Bakers for one has had a great inventory but there are others as
good. Visit them all.
