[Arid_gardener] new area of grass

I'm new to the Casa Grande area. I want to grow just a small area of real grass. I'm interested in knowing where I should purchase sod and what I need to do to the soil before putting it down? It's more like clay then dirt, do I need to loosen it up a couple of inches. Do I need to get it tested? Where? I have a sprinkler system already installed. Can you recommend any place to get the sod? I only need an 12 ft X 6 ft area. Do I need to remove the sod to put down winter seed or will it come back in the spring on it's own. I'm from back east so winter brown is fine with me.
