I have a Texas Mountain Laurel in a raised flower bed near my patio and it is getting bigger than I would like.I was thinking of doing a drastic pruning to keep the size down but your site advises against this. What happens to the plant if you prune heavily? Can it really get 20 ft tall? If so, the area cannot support it and if I can't prune it I would have to take it out which would be a shame. Also, is there any possibility the roots could break the planter? The planter is 3 ft tall, 3-4 ft deep and 10ft wide (I do have other plants in it as well) but it does connect to ground. Thank you for your assistance.
