[Arid_gardener] Basil

Hello Master Gardener!
 
My name is Darrell and I love fresh Sweet Basil.
 
I just moved to Mesa and need suggestions on planting container pots of
basil.  My concern is this...I live with a porch (with no overhang) that
faces North-North-West and I'm not sure it will get a lot or any direct
light.  Am I out of luck of planting basil there with success??  Can I get
some advise of when I can plant it from seed if I'm not totally screwed with
my porch direction.
