[Arid_gardener] Organ Pipe Cactus

Over the Holidays we received an Organ Pipe Cactus plant.  It has four vertical stems and they are about 15 inches tall.  It is in a pot that is about 10 inches high and 15 inches in diameter. A tag with the plant says that it was greenhouse grown.  There is no other information with the plant.  My questions are:
   
  1) How much and how often do we need to water this cactus.
  2) The literature I have seen  on the Internet says that eventually this could be a large cactus. Can we transplant it to the outside this spring?  If so are there any specifics as to how much sunlight, location, soil for the transplant, etc that we need to know.
