Linn. that sounds much like a Sweet Chinese Lemon (don't remember the
scientific name) Chinenses Something or other. The fruit that looks on the
outside like a common lemon, very juicy, has a rind like a tangerine but
with a taste I would describe as sweet bland. Very bland! I bought the 5
gal tree 25 years ago from the Ralphs nursery on 12th street north of Indian
School Rd, if my memory hasn't failed me.. The nursery may not be there any
longer. This tree has bright green foliage, is 30 feet long, 4 feet wide and
10+ feet tall esphaliered along a 6 foot chain link fence.

I have given several people budwood from this tree but have never seen
another like it anywhere. I doubt it was an accident because the owner of
Ralphs nursery would not have sold it under a pretense. I have up to now,
not tried to identify it any further but may now. Some like the flavor, some
not. With a Naval, a tangerine, Tangelo, kumquat and pink grapefruit and
others, I rarely eat the Chinese lemon.

If you want to make more comparisons, Linn, or if your neighbor does, let me
know.

Dick
